PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Production Supervisor's primary responsibility is overall management of manufacturing employees assigned to the shift in addition to ensuring the proper startup, support, and completion of production jobs to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all safety rules and housekeeping standards are followed and maintained.
- Supervision of manufacturing personnel including packers, leaders, material handlers, janitors, fabricators, and others as required.
- Oversee and administer the production schedule, including mold changes.
- Oversee and participate in the proper startup, in-process support, and shutdown of all production jobs.
- Provide in-process support on all production jobs including identification and correction of problems with product quality, injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, molds, or processes.
- Complete production reporting and documentation such as machine setup sheets, process change logs, production reports, process data, scrap reporting, etc.
- Identify and report any mold, equipment, or product problems through the prescribed reporting systems.
- Implement corrective actions within prescribed guidelines to ensure compliance with quality system requirements.
- Perform and/or support raw material, new product, and process validations.
- Participate in continuous improvement of processes and procedures including improvement of molding techniques, molding machine operations, auxiliary equipment operations, tooling, cycle times, scrap rates, packing processes, etc.
- Administer and comply with all policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Associates degree in any manufacturing, business, or engineering related field preferred.
- Production supervision experience in a manufacturing facility for five plus years required.
- Experience with troubleshooting injection molding equipment and processes, especially with hydraulic presses containing electrical control and heat systems, preferred
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
- Genuine desire to promote teamwork and work as a constructive member of a team.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and exhibit the ability to communicate effectively with peers and subordinates who require cooperation, communication and technical expertise from this position.
- Strong scheduling, planning and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good computer skills i.e. use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and other software.
- Training in Lean Manufacturing concepts a plus.
