Staff Range & Efficiency Engineers with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Plymouth, MI. Lead program range and efficiency deliverables within Rivian’s current product portfolio. Program main contact for the definition and development of range attribute owning from target
setting through development and validation. Coordinate range status to target with assistance from program simulation engineer. Contribute and drive discussions with all functional areas (hardware and software) that will impact range through development of technology roadmaps. Quantify program risk in achieving range targets and resolve through cross-functional vehicle efficiency discussions. Facilitate program team and efficiency team collaborative reviews to communicate program’s ability to achieve targeted vehicle efficiency and range objectives and negotiate additional efficiency improvements into the program. Perform competitive benchmarking to establish Rivian product portfolio range and efficiency targets relative to competitive set. Oversee program specific vehicle testing to support simulation model correlation. Work with simulation and tool developers in improvements to design, automation, and delivery of templated results to drive program direction for vehicle range in a concise and timely manner. Establish range certification strategy in each market based on the selected hardware and software capability. Assist certification manager with certification preview for each program. Represent the range attribute at program milestones maintaining the attribute and development status through development gateways. Must have a valid driver's license in the state of where the job is located. Must have no drug/alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years and no more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years. Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record monitoring. Domestic travel required 25% of the time.
RQMTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and 3 years [or a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent as stated above and 5 years] of
experience in any occupation of energy/efficiency engineer or related in the automotive industry. Experience must include working on Ground-up architecture definition in vehicle efficiency and range for electric vehicles; Vehicle target setting process for new vehicle architectures; Industry battery, motor and vehicle technologies to improve vehicle efficiency; Global regulatory test procedures for electric vehicles; Electric vehicle range certification and homologation; and Vehicle program timing deliverables at multiple program stages including advanced concept, virtual integration, initial vehicle builds, and production validation. Must have a valid driver's license in the state of where the job is located.
