Sr. NVH & Reliability Diagnostics Engineers with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Plymouth, MI. Work on component, system, and vehicle level Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) engineering in the product development team. Investigate, measure, and characterize NVH issues across the entire vehicle including electric motor, thermal systems, steering and suspension. Use a broad range of experimental tools and methods to solve unique NVH problems in pace with a rapid development process. Establish root cause for a wide range of NVH issues. Brainstorm and develop countermeasures using mechanical design methodologies to improve performance to within target. Support 2D & 3D CAD design activities for development of test setup, test fixtures, prototypes & anechoic chambers. Testing benchmark vehicles, perform vehicle/component target development, drive testing for prototype and early production vehicles to validate simulation results and assess vehicle’s NVH performance especially for electric motor/drive unit. Actively engage in developing electric motor components’ design & metric development for electric motor and gearbox. Provide insight on NVH performance, develop targets relative to industry leading targets. Collaborate with design partners to incorporate NVH best practices into vehicle architecture. Use tools and test methods to identify failure mechanisms on mechanical systems & conduct testing on all vehicle platforms to support data generation models. Build models & processing tools using Python/MATLAB & SQL. Domestic travel required approximately 20% of the time.
RQMTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive systems engineering or a closely related field. Must have experience or academic training with the following: Electric Vehicle (EV) structure and overall architecture; Product development and Design Release Engineering; 2D & 3D CAD development- Siemens NX and CATIA; utilizing Python and SQL; and structural and Acoustic NVH testing- Electric motor.
