Job Title: Trade Compliance Intern
Department: Legal/Contracts
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: The Trade Compliance Intern will support the export compliance team by assisting with screening parties involved in export transactions, maintaining export-import records, and ensuring compliance with U.S. government regulations. The intern will also assist with classification projects for parts and components related to import/export activities, gaining valuable experience in regulatory compliance and international trade.
Responsibilities:
Screen parties involved in export transactions against the Denied Parties List to ensure compliance.
Coordinate or assist with foreign person visit requests in collaboration with facility Security.
Maintain export-import records in compliance with U.S. government regulations and record-keeping protocols.
Provide Country of Origin (COO) determinations for ARV parts and components to qualify for trade programs.
Assist with classification of parts and components for import/export activities.
Support record-keeping and requirements compliance projects.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure adherence to export regulations and protocols.
Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information.
Knowledge of U.S. export regulations and compliance protocols (or willingness to learn).
Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Interest in export compliance and international trade regulations.
Education and/or Experience:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background Prerequisites:
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
