Ethel's Baking Company is a growing commercial bakery specializing in gluten-free dessert bars and cookies.
Position Overview:
We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented individuals to join our Production Baking & Packaging Teams. The successful candidates will be responsible for both baking/kitchen production and packaging processes, ensuring our products are prepared and packaged efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standards of quality. These roles involve working in a fast-paced environment, adhering to food safety and company standards, and contributing to the overall success of our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Production (Baking/Kitchen)
- Perform daily kitchen activities such as measuring, mixing, portioning, spreading, cooking caramel and chocolate on the stove top, and baking using rack ovens.
- Portion and apply jams, glazes, chocolate, and nuts.
- Operate kitchen machinery and equipment according to company standards and procedures.
- Monitor the baking process to ensure efficiency and quality control.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all sanitation and safety protocols.
- Report any issues with machinery, equipment, or ingredients to the supervisor promptly.
- Ensure that ingredients and materials are stocked and readily available.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including food safety, personal safety, and quality standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to cross-train between Production/Packaging Team positions.
Packaging
- Inspect products for quality and consistency before packaging.
- Assemble, label, and seal packages accurately and efficiently.
- Operate packaging machinery and equipment according to company standards and procedures.
- Monitor the packaging process to maintain efficiency and quality control.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all sanitation and safety protocols.
- Report any issues with machinery, equipment, or packaging materials to the supervisor promptly.
- Ensure that packaging materials are stocked and readily available.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of packaging equipment.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including food safety and quality standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to cross-train between Production/Packaging Team positions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in a food production or packaging environment is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic math and writing skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Open to learning, growing, and making continuous improvement suggestions.
- Food safety certification is preferred but not required.
Work Schedule:
- The Baking/Kitchen Production Team primarily works Monday – Friday, core hours are: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- The Packaging Production Team primarily works Tuesday – Saturday, core hours are: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- This is a full-time position that may include overtime.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $18.00 per hour starting pay.
