Raw Materials Shift Technician – Corning Incorporated (Hemlock, MI)
Job Summary:
The Raw Materials Shift Technician supports the cleaning and packaging manufacturing processes, aiming to enhance process control and operational excellence. This role acts as a liaison among the cleaning and packaging operations team, technical team, maintenance team, and quality team. Responsibilities include assisting team leaders and operators, managing cost reduction initiatives, improving controls, and overseeing capacity projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in safety incident reviews and gather employee feedback.
- Compile shift and production reports.
- Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance and analyze downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety, housekeeping objectives, and 5S standards.
- Support process control strategies and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in employee training and certification processes.
- Collaborate on manufacturing improvements and address throughput or safety concerns.
- Resolve chronic issues through process monitoring and data analysis.
- Manage multiple projects using sound engineering principles.
- Work closely with development teams to support new product initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: 2-year Technical Degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience, with proficiency in troubleshooting process equipment.
- Experience in electrical system troubleshooting, including low and medium voltage systems, PLCs, and temperature controls.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills, encompassing pneumatic controls, flow control, and material handling.
Desired Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of induction furnace heating and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in PLC control systems such as Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or Siemens.
- Strong computer and data collection skills, with the ability to use data for problem-solving and decision-making.
