CNC Machinist
Average Starting Pay Range for entry level machinists $17.55 - $30.00, higher level machinists can earn more!
Day Shift Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm
16% Night Shift Premium Available Monday - Thursday 4:15 pm - 4:45 am.
PTO upon hire, Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits are offered after 90 days of employment, 401K after 6 months
Overview: As a CNC Machinist for Merrill: A Keel Company, you will be responsible for operating CNC Machines in a job shop setting to manufacture complex, tightly tolerance components ranging from small to large from print and to exacting quality and delivery deadlines. On the job training is provided as needed.
Job Functions:
- Performs advanced setup operations and adjusts machine tools to perform operations from provided programs.
- Adjusts and checks out programming
- Operates CNC machine tools to perform complex series of progressive machining operations on a diverse line of work.
- Works from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and occasional profiling and contouring.
- Check parts for conformance to specifications.
- May run more than one unit simultaneously.
Physical Demands: Some heavy lifting, no more than 50 lbs without mechanical assistance. Bending, stooping, and twisting are normal motions during operation.
Work Environment: Job shop manufacturing floor environment. As such, exposure to oil, dirt, debris, fumes moving machinery and equipment, and occasional high decibels are typical. Shop floor is climate controlled. PPE is required at all times.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- An Associates degree in Machine Tool preferred.
- Specific evidence of supervisory training.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in related position in the machine tool industry.
- Job Shop or Prototype experience.
- Experience in machining for a very diverse industry base like: Mining, Aviation, Defense, Rail, Shipbuilding, Heavy Equipment, Gas & Oil and Machine Building.
- Experience in machining large and complex work.
- Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
