Administrative Secretary

Duties: 

• Performs administrative support tasks, including typing and proofreading documents, compiling data, and maintaining records. 
• Manages departmental files, schedules meetings and appointments, and coordinates mail distribution. 
• Interacts with the public, providing assistance and information. 
• Schedules court hearings and trials, updates records, prepares legal documents, and distributes court calendars. 
• Assists with office supply inventory, requisitions, and clerical staff training. 
• Transcribes meeting minutes.

Education and Experience: 

• Associate degree in secretarial science or related field and one year of clerical/secretarial work experience; OR 
• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of progressively more responsible clerical/ secretarial work experience, preferably in a legal setting.

Typing Requirement:

• Must be able to type 55 words per minute net as administered through County Personnel department testing measures.

• We are unable to process and forward your application until you have taken and successfully passed the typing test at the net speed required for the position.

Special Requirements: 

• Must possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license throughout the course of employment. 
• Candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment physical, including drug testing prior to employment. 
• A background check will be performed, and employees will be fingerprinted. 
• Applicant may not have any felony convictions.
• Subject to random alcohol and drug testing per the Court’s policy. 
• Will be required to obtain Notary Public commission upon employment.

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with individuals from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
• Capable of deescalating emotionally charged situations.
