Job Description
The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as a Budget Analyst in the Office of Financial and Administrative Services. The right candidate will have a significant role in the Office of Financial and Administrative Services as a Budget Analyst for budget and financial reporting. You will be part of a team that ensures budget and financial reports are accurate and meet state and federal reporting requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring budget development schedules, required reports, and legislation. You will also support efforts to review processes in order to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

PLEASE NOTE: New State of Michigan employees, new to the Financial Analyst classification will receive a one-time signing bonus of $2,500.
The bonus will be paid out as $1,250 gross pay adjustment on the employee's first pay warrant and the remaining $1,250 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours) of satisfactory service. If the employee leaves within one year of the appointment, they will be required to pay back the entire bonus. Current or previous career employees are ineligible
Work Location: This is an in-person position based inLansing, Michigan, with the possibility for a hybrid work schedule where you would work from home up to three days per week, following a training period if approved.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or acombination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics.
Experience
Financial Analyst 9
No specific type or amount is required.
Financial Analyst 10
One year of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9.
Financial Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10.
Alternate Education and Experience
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.
