CNC Machinist III

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The CNC machinist operates computer numerical control machines to produce parts. The CNC machinist performs set up tasks, loads inputs into the machine, cycles machine, trouble shoots machining programs and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
- Advanced individuals within this job may perform off-line programming as a primary job function. Off-line programmers would be compensated competitively.

- Creates part identification tags
- Recognizes and loads correct tooling into lathe, mill, or 5-axis machines
- Describes correct tool data from set up sheet
- Teach tool offsets
- Loads fixtures/work holding
- Sets up and edits bar feeder when applicable
- Finds work piece coordinates
- Runs control paths on controller
- Cycles and measures first piece
- Makes necessary offsets and edits to programs
- Sets up unattended machine runs
- Checks parts for conformance
- Completes and maintains paperwork and digital records for jobs
- Finalizes set up and control plans with Quality Control department

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. Safety glasses and other PPE required, as necessary.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will need to lift up to 50lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, 8-10 hours per day (depending on schedule) with overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school
- Minimum five years of related experience
- Ability to read blue prints and use measuring tools
Preferred Education and Experience
- Ten years of related experience
- Mazak milling and turning centers using Fusion
- Matrix or Matrix II controls (Mazatrol and G-Code programming)
