Position Summary:
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading our catering and sales efforts throughout the Gun Lake Casino Resort's restaurants, bars, hotel rooms, meeting spaces, and the Wawyé Oasis operations. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the catering sales team, cultivating client relationships, and coordinating catering operations within the casino environment. The incumbent also provides leadership and strategic planning while responsible for increasing Food & Beverage, hotel room, and any non-gaming revenue opportunities.

In this Role:
Develop and execute a comprehensive catering sales strategy to achieve revenue targets, focusing on both existing and potential casino clients.
Collaborate with the senior management team to define sales objectives, goals, and strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with casino clients, understanding their event needs, preferences, and budgets to tailor catering offerings accordingly.
Lead, mentor, and motivate the catering sales team, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in meeting and exceeding sales goals.
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to plan and execute successful catering events within the resort, ensuring seamless logistics, exceptional food quality, and outstanding guest experiences.
Work closely with culinary teams to create and customize menus that align with client preferences, dietary requirements, and event themes.
Prepare and present detailed catering proposals to clients, including menu options, pricing, and event details, showcasing the value of our services.
Organize all details related to group bookings and catering events from the sales phase to the post-event phase. This includes but is not limited to managing room blocks and rooming lists, diagrams, signage, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), face-to-face planning meetings, the procurement of event supplies/vendors, and detailing food and beverage requirements.
Utilize historical data and market trends to forecast catering sales, optimizing resource allocation and inventory management.
Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand the client base and stay current with industry trends.
Partner with the casino marketing team to develop promotional strategies that drive catering sales and enhance the overall guest experience.
Monitor catering budgets, expenses, and pricing strategies to ensure profitability while maintaining competitive pricing in the market.
Track sales team performance through regular reporting and analysis, ensuring that individual and team targets are met or exceeded.
Establish clear KPIs for the sales team and regularly evaluate performance against these metrics. Provide timely feedback and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Establishes and ensures compliance of policies and procedures while maintaining AAA 4-Diamond service standards.
Develops training for all sales positions and ensures team members are given the proper guidance for success. Coach and counsel Team Members who are not meeting standards. Understand the steps of discipline according to Gun Lake Casino Resort's policies.
In conjunction with the marketing team, develop an entertainment experience within the Wawyé Oasis to fully utilize the varying dayparts of the pool operations (concerts, night club, day club, etc.)
Develops and implements annual plans to drive continuous improvements in Team Member Engagement and Guest Satisfaction while achieving annual targeted retention levels for the department.
Evaluate, oversee, and provide coaching opportunities regarding job performance of Team Members.
Ensure that all Team Members are knowledgeable of and adhere to all Gun Lake Casino Resort's Standards, policies, and procedures for the department.
Responsible for always practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino Resort's "Unsurpassed Service Standards."
All other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Must be 21+ years of age.
Associate's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or related field required. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
Eight (8) years of catering sales experience in an upscale / AAA 4-Diamond hotel environment preferred.
Five (5) years in a casino or resort environment with a focus on guest service and hospitality management required.
Minimum three (3) years as a catering sales manager or five (5) years as an assistant sales manager having full P&L responsibility preferred.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form.
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Demonstrates a high proficiency in written business communications in order to effectively present data and analyses for operational improvements.
Must demonstrate sound judgment and maturity in his or her decision-making ability, even when dealing with difficult situations.
Must possess and demonstrate great attention to detail in order to maintain the property's appearance and operating standards.
Must have or be able to gain ServSafe Food Safety certification and TIPS Alcohol Awareness.
Availability and willingness to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as business requires.
Must be able to obtain a gaming license with the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission.
Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members, and create an energized, positive, team-oriented work environment.
Interact with Guests in a friendly and courteous manner and handle all Guest opportunities.
Maintain excellent grooming and uniform standards.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Physical Requirements:
Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
Ability to read, write, and input data into the computer.
Ability to climb, bend, reach, walk, and stand for the duration of the shift.
Manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.
Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs with or without assistance.
Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch, and hearing.
Ability to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold and/or noisy and may contain second-hand smoke. Work may be performed in a small area with a 3 ft. wide access. Tasks performed from a sitting or non-sitting position. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned areas. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and guests.
