Job Title: School-Age Site Supervisor
Position Type: Day Care Program/Site Supervisor
Location: Auburn
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To assist the District Early Childhood Facilitator in the establishment and monitoring of curriculum, operation of children, and staffing of the School-Age Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer the Standards of Quality for child care programs.
- Supervise personnel.
- Assist in the development of curriculum.
- Develop and carry out weekly lesson plans, including art, manipulatives, games, building activities, imaginative play, large motor activities, sensory exploration, and reading.
- Implement the Program Guide, Health Policy and Procedures, and Staff Handbook.
- Implement Child Care Licensing rules and regulations.
- Assist in compiling, submitting, and reviewing written reports as required for the programs.
- Maintain current records on family billing cards, receive payments, and provide receipts and deposits as needed.
- Maintain family emails and phone numbers for communication purposes.
- Assist in record-keeping for the programs.
- Create weekly children’s schedules based on parent-provided information.
- Keep accurate daily attendance records and update family billing cards accordingly.
- Record DHHS hours and bill accordingly.
- Engage in activities with children both indoors and outdoors.
- Teach and model respect to children and staff.
- Assist in any other areas of need as directed by supervisors.
DIMENSIONS OF POSITION
- Assist in supervising children and personnel assigned to the Before and After School Programs.
- Administer curriculum.
- Counsel children, parents, and staff.
- Plan and supervise all aspects of the program as assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Meet the minimum requirements as stated by the State of Michigan Department of Human Services Office of Children and Adult Licensing; Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers for a Program Director.
Minimum General Requirements:
- Background knowledge of the State of Michigan Department of Human Services Office of Children and Adult Licensing; Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers.
- Must have the physical stamina to work long and flexible hours.
- Demonstrate ability to organize and operate programs.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with school administrators, staff, parents, and children.
- Hold a current Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in child care and early childhood education.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and the community.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform duties in compliance with district requirements, Board of Education policies, and applicable State and Federal laws.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly required to stand, talk, and hear; may also be required to walk and sit.
- Occasionally required to push or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of children and other individuals.
- Requires close vision for reading handwritten or typed materials and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to handle multiple demands from various individuals while interacting with staff, children, and the public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The noise level is typically moderate to loud.
- Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
