TITLE: Interpretive Staff Member (docent/tour guide)
LOCATION: Hackley and Hume Historic Site, Fire Barn Museum,
& Scolnik House of the Depression Era
Position 1: 5 days/week. (May-October, select dates in Nov.-Dec.), 30 hrs. /wk.
Position 2: 3 days/week. (May-October, select dates in Nov.-Dec.), 16 hrs. /wk.

REPORTS TO: Historic Sites Manager
STATUS: Part-Time
WAGE: $12.48
Position Summary:
This position engages visitors by working as an interpreter (docent/tour guide) at the Historic Sites, including the Hackley & Hume Historic Site, Fire Barn Museum, and the Scolnik House of the Depression Era. Interpretive Staff Members provide guided thematic tours and lead experiential programming for visitors, including students, families, and groups.
Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Become familiar with the Historic Sites materials in training to lead classic tours.
- Assist with special programming and events.
- Puts visitors first by treating them as respected guests and serving their needs.
- Monitor the safety of the sites and their visitors.
- Prepare Historic Sites facilities for visitors.
- A “visitor first” attitude, flexibility, and enthusiasm.
- Experience working with the public and customer service.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
