True North Golf Club, LLC, located in Harbor Springs, Michigan, seeks three (3) full-time, temporary Golf Course Equipment Operators who will be responsible for maintaining golf course areas, including but not limited to tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths. Golf Course/Equipment Operators will be responsible for the operation and cleaning of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Temporary Golf Course/Equipment Operators will operate Toro MDX golf utility vehicles with dump beds, self-propelled walk mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, and hand edgers to mow fairways and maintain golf course areas. Temporary Golf Course/Equipment Operators will clean equipment with a hose after use and will be instructed to move reel mower blades with feet only when washing blades. Temporary Golf Course/Equipment Operators will also use rakes to rake bunkers and shovels to dig holes when necessary. Responsibilities may also include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler installation. Must have the ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds on occasion and 25 pounds repetitively. Must have the ability to stand and walk for the entire length of shift.
Will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent at True North Golf Club, LLC.
Three (3) months of experience maintaining grounds at a high-end hotel, resort, or private club required.
Travel is not required.
Daily transportation to and from worksite is provided by golf cart to those utilizing employee housing.
On-the-job training is provided.
Wage: $18.69 - $22.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Gratuity-eligible position, so actual wage with tips may occasionally be higher. Overtime is available at $28.04 - $33.00 per hour.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Work schedule can vary and can include evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Work may be performed on any day of the week from Monday through Sunday. Example shifts: 6:00AM-2:00PM, 6:30AM-2:30PM, or 7:00AM-3:00PM. Shift hours may vary.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due.
Optional housing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis for workers who are relocating to begin employment. Cost of housing and utilities, if accepted, is $100.00 bi-weekly. If used, total cost of housing and utilities will be deducted from paycheck on a bi-weekly basis.
Additional, optional nondeductible benefits may be offered to worker, for worker’s sole benefit, including but not limited to discounted meals and a shuttle service to transport workers into town.
All deductions from paycheck required by law will be made.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonable inbound transportation and subsistence costs within the first workweek. The employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonable outbound transportation and subsistence costs during the last workweek. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts.
The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
