Mercedes Benz Research and Development North America, Inc. has the following position available in Farmington Hills, MI:
Senior Engineer, OBD Calibration (CIPXY): Calibrate OBD monitoring systems for gasoline powertrains in MB and AMG Hybrid (HEV) and Mild-Hybrid (ISG) applications to comply with global OBD and Emissions regulations. Perform calibration work and validation of OBD monitors on engine and chassis dynamometer as well as in vehicles on test drives. Develop and manage OBD-related calibration variants supporting multiple vehicle variants and multiple target markets. Specify, develop, or adapt engine OBD monitors as required to meet targets. Support specification, procurement, or manufacturing of test parts for OBD monitors (e.g. aged limit catalyst, etc.).
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field, plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.
Special Requirements: Education or experience must include:
- On-Board Diagnostic systems, emissions, and controls of internal combustion gasoline engines in Hybrid (HEV) and Mild-Hybrid (ISG) applications.
- Calibration development environments (ETAS INCA, Vector) and other OBD development tools.
- OBD calibration.
- Operation and evaluation of development vehicles.
- Combustion processes, emissions, emission after-treatment systems, drive cycles, and statistical data analysis.
- Translating regulations into technical requirements and researching and interpreting complex diagnostic control functions.
- Emission testing procedures/standards, vehicle drivability evaluation, troubleshooting, and Design of Experiments (DoE).
