Position Title: Health Lab Attendant (Evening & Weekend)

Starting Salary: $12.43 – $13.79 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience
Location: On-Site - University Center, MI
Position Summary

Core Responsibilities
60% – Set Up and Support of Health Professions Lab Experiences
- Under the direction of the Health Lab Assistant, set up Health Professions course labs, clinical skill practice labs, skill competency testing sessions, and other faculty-identified laboratory learning experiences.
- Assist with setting up simulators, patient care manikins, and task training manikins, including:
- Juno, SimBaby, Nursing Annie, and Nursing Kelly manikins
- Noelle birthing simulator
- Hal pediatric simulators
- IV arms and blood pressure arms for simulation sessions
- Set up, clean, and maintain CPR equipment, storage rooms, and designated training classrooms to support the Lifelong Learning discipline.
20% – Maintenance and Inventory of Supplies, Materials, Facilities, and Equipment
- Assist in inventory management of equipment and supplies in the Health Professions Lab.
- Anticipate supply and material replacement needs and communicate with the Health Lab Assistant and Simulation Educator Learning Specialist.
- Clean and maintain Health Professions Lab equipment and facilities under the direction of the Health Lab Assistant.
- Properly store, receive, deliver, inventory, and replace linens as directed.
- Ensure safe and proper disposal of sharps and biohazard materials under the supervision of the Health Lab Assistant and Simulation Educator Learning Specialist.
20% – Communication
- Communicate regularly with the Health Lab Assistant, Simulation Educator Learning Specialist, and faculty teaching in the Health Professions Lab.
- Assist Health Professions students with securing rooms and supplies for open lab experiences.
- Answer office telephone, direct calls, and take messages for Health Professions Lab services.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certificate in a health field (CNA or MA).
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of technology, including:
- Personal computers
- Microsoft Office products
- Internet applications
Additional Experiences Considered
- Knowledge of equipment and supplies used in the health field.
- Three to five years of experience in a health-related field.
- EMT, LPN, or RN looking for part-time hours in an educational setting.
- Experience with healthcare simulation.
