Starting Salary: $14.56 – $16.14 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience
Position Summary
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion in students, faculty, and staff.
The primary function of the Operations Assistant is to provide guidance, leadership, and supervision to the Fitness & Recreation Center (F&RC) staff, programs, and facilities. This position is responsible for opening and closing the facility for regular hours and special events, overseeing equipment checkout, customer service, answering phones, taking reservations, and completing required daily reports in a timely manner.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervise daily operations, including scheduling of F&RC attendants, work shifts, and directing daily work assignments for F&RC staff.
- Assist with the promotion of F&RC programs, services, and special events, requiring a thorough understanding of the F&RC mission and facility.
- Serve as the point person for resolving problems and customer service issues while maintaining positive customer interactions.
- Assist in emergency situations, which may involve providing care within their scope of training or supervising the implementation of emergency procedures.
- Assist members with their fitness programs and knowledge of physical education principles, including proper usage of fitness equipment.
- Supervise and assist with the set-up and tear-down of equipment for various activities, programs, and special events held within the F&RC.
- Supervise and assist with preventative maintenance and regular cleaning of fitness rooms and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of fitness principles.
- Knowledge of F&RC facility operations, including staff responsibilities, schedules, programs, and policies.
- A commitment to Delta College and the mission of the F&RC.
Additional Experiences Considered
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
- AED & First Aid certifications (may be completed on the job).
