Position Summary

The Admissions Representative is responsible for promoting, recruiting, and engaging prospective students within an assigned territory, focusing on fostering relationships to educate and guide them toward achieving their professional and educational goals at Delta College. The representative will achieve this through proactive outreach and engagement activities with secondary partners (high schools, ISDs, and career centers), regional college fairs, campus engagement, and targeted community partnership events. The primary function is to conduct various recruitment and admissions activities as part of a high-energy team, designed to attract and enroll students at the College. This role is pivotal in meeting territory and institutional enrollment goals through exceptional customer service to students, staff, and external stakeholders. The incumbent will be required to use and remain current on technology to extensively and proactively engage and recruit students.
Responsibilities and Duties
Admissions Presentations & Campus Tours
- Conduct admissions presentations and campus tours for prospective students.
- Assist with large group tours and presentations for school and community visits.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and secondary partners to plan and present recruitment events, including:
- Career-based tours based on grade level and the Michigan Career Development Model.
- Increasing the college-going culture.
- Promoting the value of a college credential and benefits of attending Delta College.
- Transitioning from Dual Enrollment to Traditional Student enrollment.
- Provide individual campus tours to prospective students.
Informing & Onboarding Students
- Assist students through the onboarding process, including:
- Applying to Delta College.
- Setting up their Delta account.
- Completing online orientation.
- Coordinating hand-offs to the Academic Advising office.
- Provide detailed and accurate information to prospective students about:
- Academic offerings, including certificates, degrees, articulations, and transfer options.
- Articulating other credit into Delta College, including advanced placement (AP), career and technical education (CTE), dual enrollment, international baccalaureate (IB), professional credentials, college transfer, and credit for prior learning.
- Career exploration and career outcomes.
- College policies and procedures.
- Options for paying for classes, including financial aid (Pell Grant, TIP, federal loans), State of Michigan programs, scholarships, and payment plans.
- Referring students to appropriate support services as needed.
Managing Recruitment Territory
- Act as the admissions liaison at the downtown center within the assigned territory.
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with prospective students via in-person meetings, email, phone, and text messaging.
- Develop an enrollment plan in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Enrollment to engage prospects and applicants on and off campus within the assigned territory in a positive and professional manner, leading to enrollment generation.
- This includes outreach to secondary partners as well as non-traditional students.
- Promote Delta College and its programs and services to:
- Prospective students, parents, counselors, college/career navigators, teachers, administrators, employers, and community groups within the assigned recruitment territory.
- Represent the institution at various professional organizations and meetings approved by the College.
- Travel to secondary partner locations to:
- Host admissions presentations, orientation/account setup, paying for college days, and office hours to help students through the enrollment funnel.
Utilizing Technology Effectively
- Assist with responding to Admissions shared inboxes, including Admissions phone, email (Outlook), and texting platforms.
- Log into and utilize key Admissions technology, including:
- Colleague, CRM Recruit, and Mongoose Cadence daily to perform duties and ensure prospective students complete the enrollment process.
- Utilize CRM Recruit to track:
- Event management.
- Phone calls.
- Student notes.
- Virtual/on-site appointments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills.
- One year or more experience in marketing, sales, public relations, or higher education.
- Ability to work nights, evenings, and/or weekends as necessary.
- Ability to travel to assigned territory as necessary (valid Michigan driver’s license required).
- Ability to maintain accurate student records.
- Effective organization and attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to present in large or small groups.
