Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Player Personnel for the Central Michigan Football Program will oversee all aspects of player evaluation, recruitment, and compliance, ensuring that the program attracts and retains the best talent while adhering to NCAA rules and regulations. This role is responsible for managing the team of student workers assisting in recruitment and evaluation efforts, overseeing the ARMS database system for recruiting management, and collaborating with the General Manager to maintain scholarship budgets, NIL processes, and NCAA eligibility standards. The Senior Director will play a key role in ensuring that the program remains competitive while staying compliant with NCAA standards and fostering long-term success for student-athletes.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business, communications, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in collegiate football recruiting, player personnel, or related roles, with a focus on NCAA compliance, eligibility, and data management.
Proven track record in managing teams, particularly student workers, and overseeing complex databases such as ARMS .
Strong understanding of NCAA recruiting rules, eligibility requirements, and compliance standards.
Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively manage and develop a team of student workers.
Knowledge of ARMS or similar recruiting management systems, with the ability to troubleshoot, customize, and generate reports.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with recruits, coaching staff, compliance officers, and university administrators.
High attention to detail and accuracy in managing large sets of data.
Ability to navigate the complexities of NIL regulations and player marketing opportunities.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree.
5 years of experience in collegiate football recruiting, player personnel, or related roles, with a focus on NCAA compliance, eligibility, and data management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversees all aspects of player evaluation, including scouting, ranking, and tracking potential recruits.
Utilizes video analysis, player metrics, and evaluations from coaches and scouts to assess talent and fit for the Central Michigan Football program.
Collaborates with coaching staff and recruitment team to create and implement a strategic recruitment plan that identifies talent to fill positional needs, aligns with team goals, and contributes to long-term program success.
Monitors recruitment pipelines for high school and junior college prospects, facilitating communication and engagement throughout the recruitment cycle.
Manages the recruitment database to track evaluations, interactions, and recruitment progress.
Provides regular updates and reports to the Head Coach, General Manager, and coaching staff on the status of potential recruits, including commitments and recruitment challenges.
Works closely with the compliance office to ensure that all incoming players meet NCAA eligibility requirements before their arrival.
Reviews academic transcripts, standardized test scores, and overall eligibility to ensure recruits are NCAA -eligible upon arrival at Central Michigan.
Ensures all recruiting and player evaluation activities adhere to NCAA rules and regulations.
Stays updated on NCAA rule changes and ensure the football program’s recruitment and player personnel activities remain in full compliance.
Develops strategies to streamline compliance practices while maintaining transparency and accountability across recruiting and evaluation processes.
Maintains detailed records for all players, tracking eligibility status and ensuring that all NCAA -required paperwork (e.g., academic documents, compliance forms) is submitted correctly and on time.
Works in partnership with the compliance office to avoid any potential eligibility issues.
Assists the General Manager in managing the scholarship budget, ensuring the allocation of scholarships is aligned with both team needs and NCAA regulations.
Ensures that the football program remains within NCAA scholarship limits, while optimizing talent acquisition through strategic planning.
Works with the General Manager to develop and monitor the recruiting budget, covering costs such as travel, recruiting events, player evaluations, and related expenses.
Provides forecasting insights to ensure the recruitment process remains financially viable and aligned with the overall budget.
Leads and manages a team of student workers who assist with recruitment, evaluations, and day-to-day player personnel functions.
Delegates responsibilities for tasks such as data entry, player film analysis, initial communication with recruits, and other administrative duties.
Provides guidance, training, and mentorship to student workers in their roles. Ensure that student workers are properly trained on recruitment processes, NCAA compliance, data management tools (e.g., ARMS ), and other team responsibilities.
Fosters an environment of learning and professional growth.
Coordinates the activities of the student worker team, ensuring that deadlines are met, responsibilities are clearly defined, and all tasks are executed with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Acts as the primary point of contact for the student worker team, helping resolve any issues or challenges that may arise.
Oversees the use of the ARMS (Athlete Recruiting Management System) database for player evaluations, recruit tracking, and recruitment workflows.
Ensures that all recruitment data, including evaluations, prospect information, and follow-up communications, is accurately entered into the system.
Maintains high data integrity within the ARMS system, ensuring all recruiting data is up-to-date and accessible for coaching staff and other stakeholders.
Generates and analyzes reports from the ARMS system to track recruiting progress, identify trends, and inform future recruitment strategies.
Works with IT staff and the compliance office to ensure that ARMS data is properly integrated with other systems and that the database is in compliance with NCAA requirements.
Troubleshoots and resolves any issues related to the ARMS platform and its functionality.
Evaluates potential transfer prospects, both from the NCAA Transfer Portal and other sources, ensuring that all compliance and eligibility requirements are met. Collaborate with coaching staff to assess fit, discuss scholarship availability, and monitor transfer portal trends.
Monitors the development of current players, including their eligibility for future opportunities, including NFL Draft potential or transfer eligibility.
Keeps track of academic, athletic, and personal progress to ensure that players are in good standing for future recruitment or professional opportunities.
