Description:
Monitors and updates Occupational Health Management systems as appropriate.
As indicated, administers immunizations such as Hepatitis B, MMR, Tdap, seasonal flu vaccines, meningitis shots and Tb tests to employees, volunteers and students.
Consults with Human Resources in determination of Reasonable Suspicion and Ability to Work reviews related to alcohol, drugs, or other substances. Consults with Workplace Health on ability to work and/or reasonable suspicion results and work status.
Participates Americans with Disabilities (ADA) evaluations as appropriate. Partners with Human Resources in ADA and FMLA evaluations.
Supports Infection Prevention in Body Fluid Exposures and sub follow up, investigation, and process improvement as indicated.
Coaches colleagues in completion of work- related injury reporting.
Provides colleague support for work -related injury follow-up.
Routinely meets with HR Leaves and Workers Compensation Team to review claim status and consult on complex claims.
Supports planning, training and process for annual fit testing of patient care colleagues. Ensures Fit Testing is adherent to regulatory requirements (OSHA).
Monitors and addresses safe work environment risk issues.
Provides education on work related injury/ incident, infections disease exposure and immunizations as appropriate.
Actively supports the planning and execution of Covid Vaccination for Mercy Health Saint Mary's and Mercy Health Physician Partners.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Mercy Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
Provides quality patient care by considering cultural needs of the employee.
Supports the Trinity Health Code of Conduct, in effectively interacting with all colleagues, in sometimes stressful situations, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Organizes work effectively with only general supervision amid frequent interruptions.
Practices within legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined by the State of Michigan and delivers competent care, consistent with standards, policies, laws, regulators, accreditations, and certifying organizations.
Applies analytical skills to evaluate employee needs and state of health and takes action to refer employees to appropriate sources.
Conduct is always in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Mercy Health.
Maintains discretion and confidentiality of all HR matters.
Follows all HIPAA policies and procedures.
Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, patients and families. Reports all preventable hazards and unsafe practices, including near misses and actual errors, to management or using MHSM anonymous reporting system MIDA.
24 hour on call weekly rotation for body fluid exposures and gate keeping.
Gatekeep colleague reported injuries.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What RN must have:
Requires Associate degree in Nursing, Bachelor's degree preferred. CHSP certification or COHN within 5 years of employment highly recommend
At least 5 to 10 years of related experience.
Preferred case management, ED/ICU or surgery background.

Position Summary:

What you will do:
Cares for employees' health and safety issues.
Injury follow up, gate keeping and assist with maintaining OSHA log.
Follows up on exposure to diseases.
Processes new employee physicals, administers immunizations and performs fit testing.
Logs all employee health information as required for employment, will triage and follow up on employee injury and other incidents as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.
What you will need:
CHSP certification or COHN within 5 years of employment highly recommend.
At least 5 to 10 years of related experience.
Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited school of nursing
Enrollment in a Baccalaureate Degree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) Degree from an accredited school of nursing and completion required within 4 years of hire
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure authorized in the state of Michigan.
