GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for handling and/or performing the dispatch function. Performs a variety of complex tasks, which include but are not limited to, gathering and inputting data into the Department's computer terminal, controlling/monitoring electronic security systems that include access controls, alarm monitoring, CCTV monitoring/repair/service and Security Incident Report Entry. Responsible for monitoring and logging all aspects of the dispatch function including dispatching and directing Officers and taking routine reports.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Associates Degree.
Must be able to pass a psychological examination.
Three (3) months experience as a security officer or dispatcher, preferred.
Ability to type 25 wpm.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to interact effectively with various internal and external customers.
Ability to operate computer systems and prepackaged software, preferred.
Ability to effectively and appropriately respond to emergent and stressful situations.
Excellent visual, hearing and verbal abilities are required in order to monitor security systems and to communicate with security staff and customers.
Must be multi-task oriented and have the ability to prioritize work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent exposure to crowded conditions with some mild discomfort due to temperature and dust.
Potential exposure to violent or disruptive prisoners being detained in the Security Operation Center.
