JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Professional installation of various industry standard structured cabling types such as UTP/STP cable (CAT6, CAT6a etc.), coaxial cable (RG6, LMR-400, LDF-450a) and various configurations of single/multi-mode fiber optic cable in commercial and industrial settings .
2. Professional termination, labeling, testing, and documenting of backbone and horizontal cable implementations (CAT6, CAT6a and Fiber Optic cable) in commercial and industrial settings. Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors including challenging physical and environmental locations.
3. Professional installation of cable pathways to including cable trays, ladder racks, conduit (EMT, FMC, Rigid, Sealtite, inner duct, J-hooks, D-rings, and raceways in commercial and industrial settings.
4. Professional quality cable routing/dressing-in of cabling into telecommunications cabinets/closets. This will also include creating/maintaining the appropriate standards with the routing of cables to wall/floor locations (existing and new) as well as to modular office furniture/partitions and ceiling locations.
5. MUST pass pre-employ background check and maintain eligibility status for state and federal government contracted work.
6. Must possess and maintain valid Michigan Drivers License
SKILLS:
1. Proven ability to terminate single and multi-mode fiber using both mechanical and fusion splicing methods, with the ability to operate OTDR/fiber testing equipment.
2. Proven ability to terminate copper structured cabling properly and efficiently to Keystone Jacks, Patch Panels, RJ45 Modular Jacks and 66/110 blocks.
3. Proven ability to proficiently operate industry standard network testing equipment as related to structured cabling type.
4. Ability to use industry related hand tools, power tools, personal protective equipment (PPE).
5. Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule which can include weekends, overnights, emergency on-call service rotation and out of state travel to fulfill contract/client obligations.
6. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
7. Must possess and exercise effective verbal and written communication skills daily.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Proficient level of knowledge and installation ability with proven background with OSP and ISP cabling.
2. Proficient level of knowledge and installation ability with proven background with copper structured cabling.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING (not mandatory but must be capable of achieving):
1. BICSI Certifications: BICSI Installer-1, BICSI Installer-2 Copper, BICSI Installer-2 Optical Fiber, BICSI Technician.
2. OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA Aerial and Scissor Lifts Certification.
3. COMTRAIN: Authorized Climber/Rescue, Competent Climber/Rescue, Tower Safety and/or Rigging.
Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
