Part-Time, Temporary, Non-Exempt, Support Staff (Campus Facilities)
$14.00 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:
To maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the interior of University facilities; areas may include restrooms, hallways, offices, classrooms, laboratories, stairwells, building entrances, and special purpose rooms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean assigned areas following established schedules and prescribed methods; duties may include removing trash, sweeping and/or dust-mopping floors, polishing hard surfaces, cleaning mirrors, dusting furniture and ledges, wet mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, and washing off tabletops, desktops, countertops, chalkboards, and spot clean walls.
Stock restrooms and other applicable areas with paper and cleaning products.
Lock and unlock doors and turn off lights.
Sweep and/or remove debris, leaves, snow and ice from steps and walks at building entrances.
Perform special projects as assigned; may include shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors, washing walls, windows, baseboards, light fixtures, air vents, door frames, etc.
RELATED DUTIES:
Observe and report the need for repairs and replacement of equipment, furniture, fixtures, and burnt out light bulbs.
Stock assigned supply closets with paper products, cleaning chemicals, etc.
Move furniture and equipment as needed for cleaning purposes.
Assist other custodial personnel as required.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid Driver License may be required for some schedules.
Ability to effectively communicate with others and maintain good working relations with supervisors, co-workers, and the University community.
Ability to work alone or as member of a team and perform assigned duties within scheduled time limits.
Ability to work different shifts.
Ability to apply routine custodial safety procedures.
Ability to follow clearly defined oral and/or written instructions.
Must pass job-related physical examination and relevant skill test prior to being appointed to the position.
Ability to begin and follow through with the task(s) or plan identified in the job description, and to take the first step in performance of those duties and responsibilities.
Reporting of facilities or grounds maintenance needs which are observed.
Ability to use common cleaning equipment, such as brooms, vacuum cleaners, etc.
Ability to apply the proper use and care of cleaning equipment and solutions.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
Ability to pass job-related physical examination, skill test, and/or State/Federal mandated training, licensing, and/or certification requirements, within a reasonable period of time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One-year of custodial or related work experience preferred.
