Position Summary:
Under direct supervision from an assigned Manufacturing Engineer, provides support to production and the Manufacturing Engineering team. The role will participate in a variety of engineering projects to improve the manufacturing process. The ME Intern will work directly with Manufacturing Engineers daily both in the office and on the production floor.
Major Accountability:
- Documentation of assembly processes, work instruction procedures, and plant layouts.
- Assist with the coordination of Engineering change processes for new/modified products.
- Perform time studies on manufacturing processes.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain plant layouts and work instructions for Manufacturing while interacting with hourly employees and office personnel.
- Using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, supports continuous improvement and lean initiatives with a focus on workflow, layout, single-point scheduling, Kaizen events, standardized work, and 5S
- Supports and maintains work standards, product routings, and SOPs.
- Recommends product design improvements to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly.
- Performs workflow balancing and time studies
- Works as a liaison between Manufacturing Engineers and production personnel.
- Maximize efficiency by analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.
- Consistently operate in a manner that aligns with the company's core values.

Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in process
- 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Effectively communicates, written/oral: can connect and communicate with different audiences
- Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Describe physical demands that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the job functions.
- Able to lift 35 lbs.
- Walk on the manufacturing floor.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Travel by air, or car.
