What You Do
As a Program Specialist, you are responsible for working with employment coaches with employment training and networking with the local community to develop more opportunities for our persons served. You assist in job coaching the persons served to meet their goals and assist the Community Employment Manager in daily tasks of the program. While working in the position, you focus on community integration and network within the local communities in the Mt Pleasant area.

While this position required flexibility to be able to work an occasional weekend or evening shift, primarily you will work Monday - Friday 40 hours a week. You also will be eligible for benefits after an introductory period. Health, vision, and dental insurance is available with three health insurance options currently available. We offer 12 paid holidays including the week between Christmas and New Year. We also provide PTO (paid time off) up to 3 weeks a year based on your hours worked. If you prefer, you can also cash out your PTO quarterly to help with special occasions you may need some extra cash for. We also offer 401k and tuition reimbursement after one year of employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Significant experience in rehabilitation, social work, psychology, special education or related field.
- Six months work or volunteer experience with people with disabilities.
- Able to write clear person centered plans and to train staff in implementation.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with persons served, staff and other members of the community.
- Physically able to provide assistance to persons served with lifting and transferring, and personal care.
- This position requires medium work as defined in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles: exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and 10-25 pounds frequently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field.
- Training relevant to rehabilitation, i.e., completion of Confrontation Avoidance/Gentle Teaching, First Aid, CPR, and American Sign Language.
- Good driving record.
