Duties: Develop and implement comprehensive Product Line Plans, including operating methods and procedures, to maximize production efficiency and cost effectiveness. Oversee all key activities that impact the Profit and Loss of each product line including warranty, change management for significant changes, key quality concerns, and customer recoveries. Work closely with internal and external customers, suppliers, other engineers, and other cross-functional team members to ensure the effective implementation of product line strategy. Manage product pricing and define and drive the execution of profitability improvement projects via business development, cost reductions, and manufacturing footprints. Effectively develop and direct market pricing models, including cost estimates for automotive product design concepts, and write, review, and maintain accompanying engineering documentation. Own and analyze the understanding of market, industry, and competitive trends in the development of the overall Product Line direction. Ensure competitive cost structures by working with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, finance, and operations to develop targets and corresponding improvement plans. Own early market development for new offerings, drive the Product Line Plan visions for Actuators, Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), Sensors, and Switches, develop production execution strategy, and responsible for measuring and achieving business results. Drive competitive benchmarking activities and develop robust view of direct and indirect competition, competitor value proposition, and competitor roadmaps. Drive development and execution of strategic product and technology roadmaps in strong partnership with Engineering with the overall goal of maximizing business growth, profitability, and differentiation. Own prioritization and business case development of advanced projects aligned with the long-range 5-year revenue plan. Drive alignment between strategy and commercial process including long range revenue and profitability commitment, budget commitments of profitability improvement, footprint alignment, and capacity utilization. Drive and execute on business development initiatives from the long range planning and manage the quote process to win the business by pulling the proper levers internally and externally. Conduct cost improvement initiatives in consideration of Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) methods, supplier resourcing, end of life product management, and operations performance for each product line. Develop and deliver business cases for quotations and appropriation requests for Stoneridge’s highly engineered electrical and electronic components, modules, and systems for the automotive, medium and heavy-duty truck, agricultural and off-highway and vehicle markets. To do so, jointly develop a quote strategy with other departments, engage with all relevant company functions to deliver desired inputs, provide clear targets, assess risk in costing, and challenge the organization as necessary to obtain the appropriate level of risk and clarity for business quotes. Ensure releases for Actuators, Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), Sensors, and Switches products are launched correctly and on schedule. Manage advanced development product lifecycle to ensure that the business is consistently driving improved profitability across all assigned product segments. Provide technical direction to and work closely with advanced teams of manufacturing engineers to continuously monitor capacity and long-term initiatives pursuant to each Product Line Plan. Focus team toward strategic priorities. Engage with merger and acquisition synergy and business case analysis and assessments. Make creative recommendations to expand product base and vision. Suggest ways to track product use and impact on end users.
Requires a Master’s degree in Business Administration or a closely related field of study plus 5 years of experience in a global business development position within the automotive industry for an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or a Tier 1 supplier. Requires 5 years of experience in the following: Working with electromechanical devices including electric motors, actuators, solenoids, sensors and/or connectors in the automotive industry; Developing strategic product and technology roadmaps and product development; B2B product marketing and ability to generate new market leads and opportunities in line with a strategic plan; Managing a diverse team in a matrix organization; Demonstrated technical understanding and a high degree of analytical capability; Demonstrated ability to collect, synthesize, and interpret data and recommend direction. Requires domestic and international travel 25% of time. Telecommuting is permitted.
