General Position Description
Clean, polish, and complete basic repair on extrusion press dies using a variety of measuring and cleaning tools.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
Clean, polish and prep extrusion dies received from caustic work center using repetitive hand movements and hand tools.
Work with caustic work center team mates and die repairmen to ensure process flow of dies is efficient.
Read and interpret specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions.
Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and pin/bearing gauges to verify conformance.
Provide feedback to die repairmen when maintenance needs are identified to ensure timely repairs are completed.
Operate machine tools such as knee mills and grinders to prep parts. Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
Lift machined parts and position and secure parts on worktable using Hilo and crane
Maintain and organize paperwork when receiving dies.
Utilize computer software to organize die work flow.
Assist other press department team mates on an as needed basis including operating caustic tanks and stretchers and assisting die setters and press operators.
Assist in training fellow team mates on an as needed basis.
Responsible for following documented procedures as well as producing and ensuring product meets or exceeds established product specifications.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours
Able to bend easily at the waist and complete repetitive movements
Able to work flexible hours when required to meet customer demands
Demonstrated excellent attendance
Hold or be able to obtain valid Hilo license
Reliable transportation
Able to work with minimal supervision
Minimum 1 year extrusion or maintenance experience
Ability to be fully cross trained in all press positions
Ability to understand and carry out instructions in verbal, written and diagram form
Ability to solve problems involving mathematical equations
Basic data entry computer skills
Able to lift up to 75 pounds
Good eye/hand coordination and dexterity
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational technical school machine shop background
Experience using EPICS software
