GENERAL PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to move trailer primarily on company property for example, between the trailer pad and dock doors. Travel on public roads to obtain fuel, equipment service, or a trailer at another local MillerKnoll facility. This position will also be expected to fill in for the existing truck drivers as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Actively participates in MKPS improvement activities within current department or other departments.
Commit to meeting overtime requirements.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections, write up repair order for the trucks and report any maintenance malfunction to work team leader.
Handle a high volume of trailer movements on site, working in a safe manner.
Know and practice corporate, plant, and department safety guidelines as well as OSHA safety requirements for the jobs.
Know and practice quality requirements according to specified quality criteria and according to audit plan.
Maintain a clean and organized pad and provide non-MillerKnoll drivers with parking instructions as needed.
Maintain accurate inventory of all trailers and their contents using Trailer Tracker System or other approved system.
Maintain accurate inventory of all trailers and their contents.
Maintain contact with shipping/receiving via CB radio, two-way radio, cell phone, or other equipment as required.
Maintain daily pad checks and trailer status tags.
Maintain expected levels of order and cleanliness using 5S principles.
Perform blanket audits as assigned.
Prepare daily driver paperwork required by the company and by state laws.
Responsible for understanding and following all federal, state and local Department of Transportation Motor Carrier regulations.
Travel on public roads to pick up and deliver products, accommodate repair and maintenance requirements, and fuel needs.
Using a single axle diesel semi-tractor/switcher tractor move trailers between docks and parking pads or in and out of shipping and receiving docks.
Work primarily individually but be willing to assist other associates.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience:
Licenses and Certifications
One of the following is required:
(1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example)
(2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency
Skills and Abilities:
Possess and maintain current CDL Class A license and medical card.
Verified safe driving record and experience are necessary.
Ability to pass DOT physical.
Must be able to put on and remove snow chains when appropriate.
Must be well organized and able to work without direct supervision.
Must possess ability to make good business decisions and prioritize work in a fast paced environment.
Must understand basic truck parts including air brakes, hydraulics, engine components, and trailer parts, i.e. airlines, air brakes and the problems that occur with them.
As a safety sensitive job, this job is subject to random substance screening under company policy.
This position is also subject to routine and random drug and alcohol testing as required and recommended by Federal D.O.T.
Competent in basic math skills, such as adding and subtracting.
If not currently holding a hi-lo license, employee must pass all required tests within thirty days of accepting position.
Must be able to lift 50 to 70lbs while upright with load close to body or 10 to 40lbs while bending to floor or reaching with arms fully extended. Must be able to twist lower back and walk.
Must be able to bend forward or sideways repeatedly.
Able to read, understand, communicate, and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies and practices, etc., which are written in the English language.
Committed to team success through reliable attendance and working overtime on little or no notice.
Able to work cooperatively with all team members to meet team goals.
Must pass vision test administered by the employee health clinic.
