Summary
While functioning as a front-line senior security officer, under the direction of the Manager or Lead Security Officer, the Senior Officer will be an integral part of new security officer training. Assisting the Security Manager as well as Lead Security Officers in ensuring weekly and monthly assigned team and individual tasks are completed, will assist with emergency radio audits, may be asked to assist in all aspects of security operations support, including testing, and training. Will work as a new security officer preceptor, will ensure officers during the shift are completing documentation as required, will assist Lead Officers in compliance with Body Worn Camera policy by all officers on the shift, will identify and
notify Security Manager of calls to include in the Daily Security Briefing Report, may be asked to perform incident command roles, and may be asked to assist management and Lead Security Officer(s) in ensuring an engaged security team. Provide leadership in the absence of Lead Security Officer. Assist Security Manager and Lead Security Officer(s) on special projects as well as other duties as assigned
Essential Job Responsibilities
* Train new employees to ensure all required training are completed by assessing their work performance and provide on-the-job guidance.
* Responsible for implementing standardized Mary Free Bed training programs including instructing classes and maintain certification records for new and current staff.
* Make eye contact and pleasantly greet each patient, visitor, and staff members; maintains a pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with all guests, client, staff members and coworkers to create favorable impressions.
* Ensures a safe and secure environment; provides protective service and response for protection of the people and property of the Hospital; is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the Department by protecting patients, visitors and employees who are in danger or have been threatened and intervene when appropriate to reduce or defuse potentially violent situations.
* Monitors and maintains closed circuit TV/video surveillance and two-way radio systems and other life safety systems.
Coordinate safety and security procedures during emergencies by responding to burglary, fire and other alarms and take appropriate action. Create safety awareness among guests and staff and conduct preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages and other complaints involving potential criminal misconduct.
* Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to detect or deter criminal activity and unsafe conditions. Responds to emergency situations, calls for service and other requests for assistance. Provides supports for safe and efficient parking and transportation services.
* Relays incoming, outgoing, and inter-departmental calls, takes and relays messages, and responds to telephone queries with a smile and in a warm efficient way to facilitate public and hospital business.
* Responds quickly and accurately to emergency and non-emergency alarms including fires, codes, and tornados (or other disasters); receives initial reports, alerts outside agencies for their response, pages instructions to all hospital staff, and stands-by to provide further communications so that appropriate emergency responses may begin.
