Job Title: Mentor Program Coordinator (Part-Time)
Locations: Oakridge Middle School & Oakridge Upper Elementary
(Note: This role is based at Oakridge school sites and does not include regular hours at the Clubhouse. If there is interest in working additional hours at other school sites or at the Clubhouse, adjustments may be considered based on staffing needs and funding availability outside of current OJJDP allocations.)

This position supports up to 19 youth per site, maintaining a 1:7 staff-to-youth ratio.

Mentoring programming will encompass approximately 3 hours of on-site, direct mentoring per week, per location, plus additional time for program-related paperwork, basic parent communications, and program preparation.

Starting Wage: $16–$20/hour

Part-Time Position: This role does not include health benefits but allows for accrued Earned Time Off (ETO).
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Directs and manages the implementation of the Mentoring Opportunities for Youth Initiative (OJJDP) and the MDE Section 35e Early Literacy & Academic Support for Youth grant through the BGCA Michigan Alliance programs, with a focus on program delivery, staff supervision, community relations, and grant administration. This role also involves collaborating with the Curriculum Director, Area Club Director, Director of Grants & Compliance, COO, CEO, Site Supervisors, Board of Directors, and community stakeholders to fulfill grant objectives.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establish, monitor, and evaluate mentoring programs, ensuring fidelity to grant requirements.

Develop partnerships with parents, volunteers, and community leaders.

Maintain attendance and enrollment records, ensuring data accuracy for required reporting.

Ensure members engage in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Health and Wellness, and Literacy activities, with skill development aligned to grant objectives.

Provide leadership for staff and member conduct, safety, and personal development.

Facilitate programming fostering self-reflection while building essential social-emotional skills through community-building activities and intentional relationships.

Guide participants in defining their personal values, reflecting on their identities, and understanding the impact of societal norms and puberty on self-perception, ultimately enhancing their self-esteem and coping strategies during adolescence.
Resource Management & Evaluation

Implement administrative and operational systems to deliver programs effectively.

Regularly assess programs to confirm alignment with member needs, reflecting gender and cultural diversity.
Supervision

Collaborate with the Curriculum Director to identify training opportunities, monitor impact, and support staff development.

Complete required program reports and maintain records of participation and achievements.
Additional Responsibilities
Relationships:

Internal: Maintains daily contact with Club staff to interpret organizational objectives, communicate program standards, and share information. Regular interaction with youth is required.

External: Engage with community groups, parents, schools, and others as needed under the guidance of the Area Club Director, Curriculum Director, COO, and CEO to foster program success.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (experience with Boys & Girls Club or similar organization preferred).

At least 1 year of experience in an educational or mentoring role.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Group leadership skills and an understanding of group dynamics.

Demonstrated abilities in organization, project, and staff management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.

Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.

Capability to squat or bend for effective youth interaction.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds briefly.

Capacity to engage in physical activities within the facility, on the property, or during field trips.
