GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Interventional Cardiology acts as the System resource to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, H5/I5, and cardiology units. Uses evidence-based science and documented best practices to help with the care delivery for the cardiology population. Goals of this position include connecting patients to and sustaining relationships with caregivers, decreasing fragmented care, episodic care by bringing the care to the patient, promote patient education and nursing education on disease process, and has a strong emphasis on promoting attainment of system-wide quality goals including access improvement, customer satisfaction, and clinical process improvement.
Shift: Days -Every weekend (Sat/Sun Dayshift) with one weekday shift

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with emergent cardiac catherization on the off shift, weekends and holidays.
Removal of femoral artery sheaths after cardiac procedures.
Assisting with invasive procedure at the bedside and in the CICU fluoroscopy room. (E.g. Swan Ganz, central line, IABP, temporary pacemaker, arterial lines)
Ordering and maintaining appropriate stock levels in the CICU procedure room.
Providing in-services and nursing education on new devices and procedures being performed or implemented in the cardiology area.
Maintaining point of care testing, quality check and related logs in accordance with JCAHO requirements. Assigns and /or delegates the responsibility in their absence.
Traveling with patients that require monitoring to other departments for testing if there are no sheaths to be pulled. - Responding to and participating in emergent situations
Assuming projects on an assigned basis. (Quality measures, audits, etc.)
Coordinating and facilitating cardiology transfers and new admissions into the CICU.
Maintain radiation competency
Maintaining time/activity log
Assume other duties as assigned Qualifications
minimum of 2 years of experience working in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and / or Cardiac Catheterization lab and / or Electro physiology lab?
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Current RN license in the State of Michigan required.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant or related experience is required in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and /or Cardiac Catheterization lab or Electro physiology lab. Y
Critical Care class is required or BCAT.
ACLS/BCLS are mandatory.
