Act as nutritional consultant and resource to members of the health care team. Provides comprehensive nutritional care including assessment, Nutrition Diagnosis, implementation of a care plan, counseling, education, and evaluation of outcomes to patients, families, and associates. Coordinates various education programs and seminars on nutritional topics.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or related field that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
This can be acquired through the completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved four year Baccalaureate degree program and an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics accredited advanced Training program.
Master's degree or Advanced Practice Certification preferred.
Requires a professional level of knowledge of chemistry, physiology, caloric and nutrient values and physical properties of foodstuffs with an understanding of medical nutrition therapy.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak English; use and understand medical terminology
Follow oral and written instructions; perform arithmetic calculations
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Requires a relatively high level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and work with medical, nursing and other health care professionals, patients, and their families.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
