CAMW! is looking for a Financial Accountant to join our administrative team at our Lansing office, which provides the backbone support for our organization, ensuring smooth operations in support of our mission.
The Financial Accountant’s primary responsibility is to prepare, analyze, and compile quarterly federal and state grant financial reports. This position also assists the Chief Financial Officer in all aspects of general ledger fund accounting with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and must possess the ability to interpret all accounting data in journals, ledgers, trial balances, and other financial reports.
The ideal candidate has at least a Bachelor’s degree in accounting with two years of equivalent work experience, ideally in a non-profit and/or government setting. We are looking for someone with excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills who can ensure our financial systems are accurate and meet all grant requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare quarter-end entries and shared-costs distributions through cost allocation processes.
- Analyze revenues, and expenses to ensure appropriate entry into the accounting system; prepare any journal entries to correct discrepancies.
- Understand financial guidance through State Policy Issuances.
- Prepare grant budget information summaries, budget-to-actual comparisons, and program budget entries.
- Reconcile bank statements.
- Prepare quarterly A/R invoicing and reconcile aging accounts.
- Prepare cash requests to the State of Michigan and other funders.
- Review bi-weekly payroll to verify deductions are accurate.
- Prepare pension monthly entry for transfer and deposit.
- Review and verify contract budgets.
- Maintain various budgets, financials, and allocation templates.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end fund closings, accruals, reconciliations, and audit schedules.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits

The specific compensation range for this position will be disclosed to qualified candidates at the screening phase of our process to ensure that this position is in alignment with candidate expectations and qualifications.
The Financial Accountant is a Michigan-based position that works primarily from the Lansing office, with periodic flexibility to work from home. To perform the duties of this role, the Financial Accountant may occasionally work an extended day and weekends during quarterly reporting, audit periods, and year-end closing.
ANNUAL SALARY: $50,000-$60,000
