Position Summary:
The Department of Mathematics at Central Michigan University invites applications for two fixed-term faculty appointments in mathematics effective January 2025. Full-time fixed-term faculty are generally expected to teach four courses per semester. Courses may be face-to-face or online and at the undergraduate or graduate level.
This is an initial one-semester appointment; however, reappointment is expected, subject to favorable evaluation and annual enrollment projections.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s in mathematics.
• Ability to teach introductory mathematics courses through the calculus sequence.
• Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in mathematics.
• Demonstrated success teaching mathematics at the collegiate level.

About the Department:
The Department of Mathematics currently has 21 faculty members engaged in research in mathematics education, mathematics, and applied mathematics. We have a large mathematics education faculty group with research in equity, sociopolitical issues in mathematics education, ethnomathematics, beliefs, technology, mathematical knowledge for teaching, the teaching and learning of abstract and linear algebra, and the teaching and learning of proof. We are dedicated to excellent teaching and preparing strong PK – 12 mathematics teachers. CMU is an NSF ADVANCE institution.
