JOB TITLE: Academic Interventionist
DEPARTMENT/BUILDING:
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Saginaw Public Schools Academic Interventionists are responsible for assisting with the delivery of instructional services for eligible students in the remedial Title I program. Responsibilities include instruction of students, student discipline, planning, preparation of materials, testing and record keeping.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adapt lessons to support and/or reinforce classroom objectives
- Administer tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. to support teachers in the instructional process
- Assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments to practice and/or reinforce learning concepts and assist students in reaching their academic goals and grade level standards
- Confer with teachers and/or parents by providing input into the evaluation of students’ progress and/or implementing/modifying students’ objectives
- Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans to assist the teacher in improving students’ academic success through a defined course of study
- Maintain classroom equipment, work area, students’ files/records to identify required assistance and ensure a safe and positive learning environment
- Perform record keeping and clerical functions to support the teacher and/or to provide necessary records/materials
- Respond to emergency situations and immediately resolve safety concerns and/or direct concerns to appropriate personnel for resolution
- Attend meetings and in-service presentations to acquire information relative to these job functions
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant field preferred
- Associate’s Degree in Child Development or relevant field required
- Previous classroom experience preferred
- Knowledge of Math/Science and Reading subject areas
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Individual(s) will be expected to pass both a Math and Reading Test so as to be able to support students in grades K-8
WORKING CONDITIONS:
School environment where there may be physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, and dust.

Support classroom teachers and other school personnel in the implementation of curriculum and teaching methodologies
