JOB DESCRIPTION
Weld Tech Responsibilites:
Primary Role is to be the 2nd responder for calls from the Weld Set-ups and Production teams.
Reset more complex robot faults.
Perform major Fixture Adjustments of robots (i.e.: calling tech services, addressing issues Weld Set-ups are not ready to cover).
Perform major fixture adjustments of the tooling or fixtures.
Conduct parameter Audits.
Secondary Role is to lead the implementation of improvements to the welding processes.
Identify and communicate fixture or equipment improvements to engineering or maintenance.
Lead the implementation of process improvements (i.e.: weld length reductions, cycle time improvements, and quality repeatability.)
Provides support to the Weld Set-ups when production is critical to keep the production processes functioning.
Communicate and document to Engineering and fellow team members any issues that may inhibit daily production (i.e.: issues with machinery, fixturing, materials, etc.) and escalation procedures for downtime.
Maintain organization, safety, and 5S procedures in the area.
Follow all welding ODSs and work instructions.
Understand and actively implement company policies and procedures.
Work overtime as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Welding Engineer.
Update Precitec on the laser welder.
Adjust track points on the laser welder.
Change the laser head.
Safety: Study, institute and maintain efficient and safe work practices, procedures, and facilities; by coordinating with the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department and Manufacturing Engineering Department and keeping them abreast of all safety and efficiency requirements to maintain an accident-free, high-efficiency plant operation.
Weld Tech Qualifications
Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills to determine root cause and corrective action.
Excellent and effective communication skills. Ability to talk technically about the process with a solid understanding of process monitoring and products to ensure the right information is communicated.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, and procedure manuals, and follow technical documentation.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The candidate can compute rates, ratios, and percentages. Draw and interpret bar graphs.
Understanding of robotic Gas Metal Arc Welding processes.
Self-directed and strong time management skills.
Understanding of resistance welding process.
Understanding of the laser welding process.
Experience Requirements
Maintenance/Manufacturing Experience.
2+ years of previous relevant work experience is required, preferably within the automotive industry.
Experience using calipers, metric scales, and mechanical hand tools.
Must have a consistent employment record including good attendance and be capable of adapting to a participative teamwork environment.
