Responsibilities:
Operate and set up manual surface grinders, band saws, lathes, and milling machines
Program, operate and set up CNC mills and lathes
Program, operate and set up EDM machines
Tear down, troubleshoot and repair injection molds, including measuring blocks and components for proper fit; repair and make ejector pins, core pins, springs, bushings, and plates
Read and understand complex blueprints, sketches, drawing manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and set up requirements
Use various measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, various toolmaker gauges, optical comparators, etc.)
Interact with manufacturing to resolve tooling related molding issues
Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to set ups and operations within recognized procedures
Build cavities from part prints
Perform these and all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management
Required Skills:
All team members are expected to keep their work area clean, organized and maintain a high level of safety and quality
Must be able to use basic shop math and possess an understanding of complex prints and sketches
Requires basic computer skills
Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, including between shifts
Ability to proceed on work assignments with minimum supervision or assistance
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to work within High Performance Team (HPT) guidelines
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition
Ability to read and interpret required paperwork with high degree of accuracy
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. occasionally during an 8-hour shift
Must be able to sit and stand intermittently during an 8-hour shift
Must be able to tolerate a mold shop environment which includes fumes, dust and oil
Must be able to stand, sit, reach, bend, twist, reach overhead, walk and carry molds, materials and boxes of product or parts intermittently during an 8-hour shift
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Knowledge/experience/education through prior employment and/or educational background
Documented Tool & Die apprenticeship with progression towards journeyman status
Prior injection molding Tool & Die experience required
