POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Medicine is responsible for Henry Ford Medical Group (HFMG) departmental activities associated with the operation of ambulatory clinics, research, teaching and inpatient functions. Directs the development and management of financial and operational planning and analyses, including budgets and pro-forma business plan analyses. The Vice President of Medicine Represents the departments and/or HFMG on various internal and external committees and supports the Henry Ford Medical Group by directing and implementing various business unit initiatives.
Additionally, the Vice President of Medicine will manage all aspects of the Medical Specialties within the Department of Medicine. The scope of these responsibilities includes over 400 senior staff physicians, 900 support staff, 300 resident and fellow trainees, more than $50 million in annual research and over $1 billion in annual budgeted revenues. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Henry Ford Medical Group and serves as a dyad partner to the Chair of the Internal Medicine Program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proactively supports the mission and vision of the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS). Demonstrates and expects others to demonstrate personal professional behavior, consistent with the Henry Ford Health System mission, vision and values.
Performs personnel functions including interviewing, hiring, performance appraisals and disciplinary action as necessary.
Administers budgetary goals and objectives for effective operations; analyzes financial performance and sets corrective actions
Responsible for the implementation of work group business plans and objectives. Provide ongoing management and coordination for operational workgroups.
Works on projects as assigned by area, workgroup and business unit. Integrates operations with other workgroups or business unit areas.
Responsible for the early identification of industry trends that could potentially pose opportunities for business development, product line development, and joint ventures.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care services and rules of accrediting bodies. Ensures compliance with all internal HFHS compliance standards.
Coordinates activities necessary to optimize clinical, financial, and satisfaction outcomes.
Responsible for strategic, programmatic growth and transformative care delivery.
Responsible for daily business operations to bring about change (metrics, physician productivity).
Building strong communication and physician/faculty relationship skills.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
significant leadership experience (10 or more years) that align well with the qualifications of this position.
Ideal candidate would have work experience with broad. understanding of all aspects of health care services.
Demonstrated financial modeling and analysis skills.
Comfortable and experienced working in a matrix model organization.
Strong analytical skills and a quantitative thinker.
Strong conflict resolution skills.
Business planning skills to include development of feasibility studies and program analysis.
Excellent communicator, speaker, and listener.
Enjoys teaching and educating.
Familiar with marketing and information technology tools.
Demonstrated success with the development, implementation and execution of physician practice operations, both clinically and financially. This includes ambulatory, inpatient and academic settings.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Master's degree in finance or business administration
