Journeyman electricians are responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems. They work with blueprints to figure out how the systems are supposed to work. Then, they use that information to troubleshoot electrical problems and come up with solutions for them. A journeyman electrician needs to have a deep familiarity with various types of electrical systems, fixtures, and components. They have to be able to repair electrical uses with a variety of tools and techniques. Their work also requires them to follow OSHA safety requirements and to safely use ladders, scaffolding, and platforms.
To qualify for this role, an individual usually needs to have completed an electrician apprenticeship. They also need to have a valid driver’s license, as journeyman electricians typically drive themselves from job site to job site.
Journeyman Electrician Job Description:
We’re looking for a skilled journeyman electrician to add to our growing team. In this role, it will be your job to assist our customers in the maintenance, repair, and installation of their electrical systems. We’ll ask you to perform these tasks for both residential and commercial clients.
As a journeyman electrician, you will be asked to complete a wide variety of tasks. You should be able to perform inspections and conduct assessments of electrical systems. You should also be able to read blueprints and interpret them in order to determine the best way to resolve the problems in an electrical system. To accomplish all of this, you will need to have a deep familiarity with wiring, commonly-used electrical tools, and various components. We’re hoping to hire a journeyman electrician who has already completed an electrician apprenticeship, but we are open to considering the right candidate who has not.
