Job Title: Sports Coach Job Code: PSS/SAP
Reports to: Sports Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Sports Director, the Sports Coach will be responsible for teaching skills and techniques for various sports to youth of varying ages and skill levels. The more common individual sports such as basketball, kickball, soccer, flag football, lacrosse, and tee-ball/baseball will be the focus as well as multi-sport programs which may include the sports listed as well as more unique, less common sports. The coach will also be responsible for the safety of all participants, the supervision and care of all the equipment, and integrating the YMCA core values of honesty, responsibility, caring, and respect into all aspects of all the youth sports programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains constant surveillance of participants
- Is actively engaged with participants at all times
- Knows and enforces all rules in a respectful manner
- Maintains effective, positive relationships participants, parents and other staff
- Arrives to work on time, prepared and wears appropriate uniform
- Attends all staff meetings as required
- Engages in behavior conducive to team building with other staff, such as open
- communication, encouragement, support and tolerance for each other.
- Exemplify the YMCA mission and values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility in all aspects of job performance and interactions/relationships with others
- Accepts and demonstrates the mission & values of the Y-usa and YMCA of Marquette County
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications: First aid, CPR and AED, ninety days of employment
- Prior experience working with children
- Creativity, initiative, flexibility, eagerness, to seek out and involve others are essential
