Position Summary:
The School of Politics, Society, Justice, and Public Service (SPSJPS ) of Central Michigan University (CMU ) invites applications for a tenure track assistant/associate professor of Social Work. The Social Work program, which is CSWE -accredited, teaches generalist practice with an emphasis on rural settings and is one of four disciplines within SPSJPS : Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology and Social Work.
SPSJPS seeks an experienced, passionate practitioner and scholar who has a strong interest in social justice issues and in collaborating across multiple disciplines/communities. Faculty responsibilities will include teaching core courses in the BSW program, advisement of students and related social work program service responsibilities. Responsibilities may include support for the development of a proposed online DSW program and assistance in field education for social work students.
Required Qualifications:
• MSW from a CSWE -accredited institution.
• PhD or doctorate in social work or related field by August 2025.
• Two years minimum of post-MSW direct practice experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility.
• Excellent scholarly potential including a research and publication agenda.
• Evidence of effective teaching or other preparation for teaching.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
