The City of Ishpeming is accepting applications for an Assistant Foreman -Chief Mechanic in the Department of Public Works. Work is assigned and supervised by the DPW General Foreman.
Desirable qualification include five or more years of progressively more responsible experience in automotive, heavy duty including diesel motors and a minimum of two years’ experience independently operating as a mechanic in either small engine repair or a light/heavy equipment mechanic. Experience with fleet management; and a vast knowledge of shop tools, modern practices, and procedures is also desired.
A valid State of Michigan driver's license with a CDL endorsement, or ability to obtain a CDL within 45 days of hire and an excellent driving record. Starting hourly wage of $24.48 and includes benefits.
