Job Summary
Responsible for the safe operation of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Benefits – Medical, dental and vision; STD, LTD and Life company paid; 401k with company match. Employee pays only 15% of medical cost at $16.47/week for Single and $49.41/week for Family coverage (2024 Rates). Company contributes HSA dollars annually of $1,000 for a Single and $2,000 for a Family.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the day-to-day plant production.
- Train and motivate Equipment Operators to achieve production goals.
- Participate in setting objectives, plan development and performance review of plant performance.
- Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving production related problems.
- Communicates regularly with all production personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning production issues.
- Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine goal achievement, competency, knowledge, and contribution to the production staff.
- Ability to operate equipment related to food production.
- Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the Production Department.
- Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and work with team members to accomplish set goals.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment problems in order to maintain production.
- Responsibilities also include moving food containers, dumping product into equipment, cleaning of equipment, surroundings and facility as directed.
- Observe gauges, dials, and product characteristics, and adjust controls in order to maintain appropriate flow of ingredients.
- Responsible for inspecting each part of the equipment, testing different parts for effective function before using the equipment, and checking if items produced pass quality control inspection.
- Remain vigilant for alarms or other signs of equipment malfunction and shut down equipment and notify manager when necessary.
- Record production and test data, such as processing steps, batch records, and test results.
- Must be able to report Food Safety and Quality issues to Management.
- Verify order and batch record accuracy prior to starting, during, and upon completion of production campaign.
- Verify any reports recorded by an Equipment Operator on their team.
- Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures for the Production Department. Is a member of the Safety Committee.
- Coordinates activities with Maintenance, Warehouse, Lab, and Tankyard.
- Work with Production Scheduler to plan and build weekly schedules.
- Monitors month-end reports of line efficiency.
- Implements and maintains programs and procedures required to ensure plant safety, GMPs, and cleanliness/sanitation.
- Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements, expansions, or site developments.
- Responsible for sanitation crew and their performance.
Must be able to:
- Recognize failure of equipment or established procedure that compromises food safety.
- Recognize failure of equipment with potential to cause injury or significant damage to equipment.
- Recognize possible cross contamination issues in an effort to protect and maintain quality of produced product.
- Utilize our efficiency program; read and analyze production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
- Monitor and track all daily department internal and external customer order fulfillment.
- Monitor employee and leadership attendance, vacation, exit reports within attendance software system.
Supervisory Responsibilities

- Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine goal achievement, competency, knowledge, and contribution to the production staff.
- Be involved in hiring, terminations, evaluations, and promotions.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
- Degree in Operators; Engineering, business or similar
- Experience in a Food Production Facility
- Previous supervisory experience: production manager experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Decision Making Authority
- Must be able to assign tasks consistent with current production run schedule to Equipment Operators.
- Prepare reports on Productivity and Employee Performance.
- Ability to record equipment sanitation and production batch records.
- Self-starter and maintain a high level of leadership.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Advance training or certifications in EHS preferred.
- Provide necessary papers allowing holder to work legally in the United States.
