Tooling Technician
Tooling Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs of production molds, molding equipment, and secondary equipment. Tooling Technicians must be able to work independently, have great attention to detail, and be well organized. Tooling Technicians are expected to work with internal team members as well as outside vendors with a primary focus of continuous improvement. Tooling Technicians are expected to have experience with hand tools, machining equipment (i.e. Bridgeport, lathe, CNC), and welding.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, as well as scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on simple to moderately complex molds.
- Move molds from storage racks to maintenance area using various lifting equipment.
- Polish and clean mold components, including mold cavities.
- Coordinate with and assist mold makers and machinists in maintenance and/or repair of worn or damaged mold components.
- Safely and independently operate lathe, Bridgeport, surface grinder, and other miscellaneous equipment in work area.
- Complete fabrication work using welders.
- Design, fabricate, and repair secondary equipment including tables, racks, fixtures, ect.
- Record data required to accurately track mold maintenance activities.
- Complete work orders completely and on a timely basis.
- Clean tools, plant work cells, and support equipment as necessary and specified to maintain 5S standards.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
- Participate in training classes/off-site certifications and/or continue education.
- Perform all work independently and utilizing safe work practices.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a HS diploma, or GED
- Experience with safely operating Bridgeport, lathe, CNC, and welders
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic Computer skills
