About our department
Our Sterile Processing departments (SPD) are full of fun and energetic staff members that focus on delivering high quality surgical trays. Our organization supports each team to function in an exceptionally reliable environment. This amazing team consists of over 110 people systemwide and supported by 17 Leads, 5 Supervisors, two educators, 1 Quality Coordinator, 1 Enterprise Manager, and 1 SPD Director. In 2023, our SPD team processed over 700,000 trays. This accounts for over 57,000 cases that were supported through the year.
About Butterworth Hospital
Right in the heart of Grand Rapids, you will find a nationally recognized hospital for patient quality and safety and the regional leader in full-service hospitals. Since 1873, we have been growing and building a reputation of excellence in care, diagnostics, treatment, prevention, and education. It is the flagship hospital for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals.
While the primary location is Butterworth Hospital, this Sterile Processing Department Manager will oversee the departments at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and the Meijer Heart Center as well.
This SPD Manager will lead a team of three Supervisors, one educator and one instrument coordinator working hand in hand with the SPD Director for efficient sterile processing operations.
Scope of work
Drives standardized processes and safety programs that strive for zero defects and top decile measures for patient safety and quality. Works collaboratively with Regional Clinical leadership to deliver outstanding, timely sterile processing services. Works to ensure readiness and compliance for accreditation standards. Manages, plans, and tracks capital expenditures for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Surgical Services and leads equipment/instrument resource sharing initiatives across the Corewell Health enterprise.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Required.
Master's Degree Preferred.
7 years of relevant management experience or support of clinical or logistical support departments with emphasis on high quality services, effective people leadership, process improvement, fiscal management, financial analysis, utilization, and automation Required.
2 years of relevant experience with Surgical Services clinical or business roles Preferred.
2 years of experience with Sterile Processing or Central Services leadership Preferred.
