Specialty Commercial Analyst II
The Commercial Specialty Loan Operations Team serves as the primary day-to-day processing area for Comerica's Syndicated Part Sold, Part Bought, (SAG) Special Assets Group & (SBA) Small Business Administration Loan Portfolios. Within this role the Commercial Specialty Loan Processor ll candidate will be responsible for all fundings, advances, paydowns, repricing's, rate changes and any additional processing related to multi-bank deals that Comerica agents, participates in or originates and services. The Commercial Specialty Loan Processor ll candidate will process transactions, balance member bank histories, Agent Bank notices, (SBA) Small Business & (SAG) Special Asset Group loans daily. The Commercial Specialty Loan Processor ll candidate will be expected to work directly with internal business partners, loan officers, lending assistants, fiscal transfer agents, Agent Banks, and the Small Business Administration to resolve issues. This role is a part of a team that handles daily processing of roughly $16 billion and greater in loan commitments and accounts for roughly $20 million and greater of annual fee income for Comerica. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that all required financial and administrative transactions, and financial postings are appropriately reflected in Comerica's accounting financial systems (AFS) and records on an accurate and timely basis for both the customer, member, Agent Bank and as well as the Small Business Administration which is a division of the Federal Government.
Position Responsibilities:
Process Funding and Advances
Interact with Lenders, Closers, Attorneys, and Agent Banks to close, fund, and book transactions following the parameters of the credit agreement.
Analyze and interpret complex documentation associated with payment applications to ensure proper payment application. ie principal, interest and fees collected.
Initiate and approve outgoing wires for advances & fundings based on criteria received for funding based on loan availability and credit agreement with limits up to $160,000,000.00.
Process financial transactions related to fundings, payments, and fees using AFS, Service Cloud, and DEALS.
Track General Ledger entries to ensure timely clearing.
Create a SharePoint Entry for Fundings and send to Review & Booking.
Process Outgoing Wires according to Comerica and AML travel rule policy.
Communicate effectively both written & orally with all Lines of Business within Comerica's Framework.
National Portfolio Management -- Payments/Interest Rates/ Fees.
Review documentation and input interest rate changes, spread changes, index, and conversions to ensure proper accruals on all loans for accurate Financial Reporting.
Effectively communicate & correspond with other Agent Banks toward solve issues related to fees, rates, payments, and rollovers etc.
Process adjustments to AFS on Canadian loans and send funds and fees required to Comerica Canada.
Create new interest rates based on interpretation of complex credit agreement language and submit to rate team for build and ensure AFS is updated accordingly once completed.
Manage the accuracy and collection of unused commitment fees.
Maintain and update key codes identifying obligation numbers for complex facilities.
Accurately process the payments to the Sold side of AFS for the SBA.
Accurately Process Lockbox Rejects to AFS.
Accurately Process ACH Rejects to AFS.
Accurately Process Chargeback checks to AFS.
Complete understanding of the rate structure of a Commercial Loan.
Review, Research & Resolve inquiries from Loan Groups related to incorrect transaction postings.
Review the portfolio daily for any Out of balance issues and resolve.
Determine various systematic ways to accommodate difficult Commercial Loans accurately and efficiently on Comerica's Loan Accounting System (AFS) Automated Financial System.
Understand Comerica's Document Repositories -- ie FileNet, Net Image Viewer & COLD.
Understand the Approval Authority Process and take all necessary steps to ensure all policies & procedures are followed.
Research and correct outstanding General Ledger and other financial entries.
Review reports as needed to ensure accuracy of Loan Accruals and Adjustments.
Maintain both Contractual and Book Record balances per Comerica's Policy.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Syndicated Loan Market, especially as an Administrative Agent, and understands market conventions for managing the loan products.
Build and maintain spreadsheets for each borrower to reconcile and track fundings, interest and fee accruals. Monitor AFS (Core system) to ensure calculations in spreadsheet and on AFS agree.
Support the execution and closing of complex syndicated loan transactions, including, but not limited to, new deals, refinancing, amendments, acquisition financings, and re-pricings.
Work the Service Unit 7 Bundle Reports.
Reconcilement & Research
Ensure interest accruals and principal balances are accurate and reflected properly in the Banks financial reporting.
Manually retroactive adjustments, spread, or rate changes and input transactions into the accounting system to ensure we are in sync with Agent Bank.
Research and correct outstanding General Ledger and other financial entries.
Review reports and determine root cause to ensure accuracy of Loan Accruals and Adjustments for Financial Reporting.
Maintain both Contractual and Book Record balances per Comerica's Policy.
Reconcile Commercial Loan balances and transactions against the Agent Bank's Notice.
Monitor Letter of Credit activity to ensure unused fees are computed correctly. Manually calculate and adjust AFS if required. Engage Letter of Credit Department if necessary.
