Job Summary: The Senior Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for corporate level EHS governance. The position evaluates working conditions, leads health, safety, and environmental initiatives, and ensures compliance with government regulations and company policies at all ABS locations. Responsibilities: * This is a hands-on leadership role that will be responsible for daily and operational needs of the Lake Orion facility and overseeing multiple ABS locations, including managing direct reports. * Develop and maintain all required EHS systems and processes within the organization. * Develop relationships with parent company safety executives and team members to leverage and implement best practices. * Lead the change management process with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to propose and garner support for safety initiatives. * Oversee and support development and maintain ISO14001 within required ABS locations. * Lead investigations and problem solving for near misses and accidents. Ensure corrective actions are implemented. * Define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop sound, independent conclusions, and recommendations in accordance with laws, regulations, rules, and policies. * Organize, set priorities, and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility. * Professionally represent the organization to appropriate authorities and customers for environmental, health, safety, building code, and other compliance matters. * Develop annual and long-term capital budgets for corporate EHS strategic and operational needs. * Provide effective and appropriate guidance to the leadership team and safety resources. * Develop policies, procedures, programs, training, and implementation tools to maintain a safe work environment and good environmental stewardship. * Ensure compliance with all environmental requirements that are applicable to the organization. * Ensure EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are proper and report out to SLT quarterly. * Support monthly Townhall meetings by sharing key safety messages with the organization. * Lead and facilitate injury case management striving to attain both adequate care and positive outcome for the facility. * Inspect operations and equipment to determine hazards, recommend proper controls and implement corrections. * Facilitate all Lock out tag out (LOTO) processes, placards and training required within the organization. * Point of contact and key resource for Worker's Compensation needs, coordination with company case manager and Human Resources. * Oversees battery waste program to ensure compliance by maintaining inventory of wastes, coordinating disposal, and managing the accumulation area. * Facilitate with Human Resources all required medical monitoring and testing. * Work in partnership with leadership teams to ensure all safety control measures and regulations are included in capital projects. * Lead and facilitate safety communication actions for plant-wide distribution. * Lead and facilitate contractor safety expectations and training. * Travel to various locations as needed. Overnight travel will be required. * Maintain a safe and clean working environment. * Basic research methods and data analysis techniques are required. * Adhere to federal and state regulations. * Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures. * Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. * Predictable and reliable attendance. Position Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or equivalent degree or five (5) years of experience in an EH&S Field. * Minimum of five (5) years of experience in industrial manufacturing operation. * Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience. * Battery plant EH&S experience preferred. * Technical training and proficiency in OSHA and other applicable standards. * Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and facility regulations. * Ability to perform hazard assessments of all areas including but not limited to the facility, manufacturing, testing, and build areas. * Able to perform classroom and on-the-job training for EHS topics. * Training in First Aid, CPR, and BBP. * Expert level training in OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, Electrical Safety Practices, and Hazcom. * Working knowledge of Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management systems including OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, and TS16949. * Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. * Must be willing to travel to ABS locations up to 5 days per month or as needed. * Excellent communication and documentation skills.
