General Summary:
Under direct supervision the Associate Dispatcher is responsible for various dispatching and administrative tasks in relation to receiving and transmitting information pertaining to field work schedules. The incumbent will assign emergent and non-emergent work and complete all supporting actions in line with the operations manual. The Associate Dispatcher is also responsible for coordination of communications and information operating a variety of communication equipment including two-way radios, pagers, cell phones, and personal computers to receive, prioritize, schedule and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for service and coordinate internal and external agencies, vendors, and equipment for field crews. The Associate Dispatcher supports field leadership by assessing and recommending field resource adjustments, overtime needs, and communicating with internal/external customers.

High School Diploma AND 0-2 years of experience.
Consumer Energy Dispatcher Switching and Tagging Certification (or obtain within 8 months of hire) required.
6+ months of applicable dispatcher experience preferred.
Rotating shifts to maintain a 24-hour/7 day a week operation, as well as overtime assignments are required. Storm restoration response within 2 hours will require a 24-hour operation and shifts will be adjusted to accommodate that requirement. During storm restoration, a dispatcher will generally work 12-14 hours straight, with 10-12 hours of rest while they work diligently alongside others to restore power to our customers in a safe and timely manner.
In this role, you will:
Assign emergent work and direct field personnel; conduct necessary activities that support the completion of emergent work.
Follow all proper processes and procedures as required in the operating manual.
Create orders in Systems Application and Products (SAP) as requested by field resources to ensure customers' needs are met.
Submit Miss Dig requests for emergent work & complete status checks as needed.
Assign non-emergent and routine orders as required.
Communicate with Field Supervision on field resources versus workload. Evaluate the need for ARCOS callouts based on the workload to be completed and recommend adjustments.
Support other team members as needed and instructed.
Participate in storm restoration activities and shift coverage.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution.
Ability to read and interpret prints.
Ability to interact with internal and external clients and understand their functions.
Ability to manage a console independently.
Ability to independently write, approve and execute distribution switching and tagging orders.
Working Conditions:
Indoor - System Control & Dispatch Centers, Field Offices, Call Centers, Corporate Offices. Outdoor - Field Operations involving all field work groups, Lines, Substations, Meter Services.
Hazardous - Construction/work sites, as well as various heavy & unique equipment exposure for company and customer operations
