The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Analytics, this position's primary responsibilities will include leading the underwriting optimization team in strategy development and performance analysis for the consumer underwriting. This individual will be leading a team focused on capacity based auto-decision strategies, origination target setting, cost optimization, and other ad hoc strategic analyses to support the needs of consumer underwriting. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering results, must be an innovative and strategic thinker, willing to challenge status quo, can learn quickly, is self-motivated and detail oriented. The position will lead a team and work with key stakeholders within the Consumer Underwriting organization, as well as partner groups such as finance, compliance, legal, risk and technology.
The Work Itself
- Lead a team focused on improving consumer underwriting by developing/modifiying strategies, while managing stakeholder expectations.
- Lead analytics around capacity based auto-decisioning, supplier cost optimization, and other underwriter based strategies focused finding opportunities to improve performance.
- Manage priorities using sound control processes (daily/weekly/monthly) to effectively identify, assess and manage progress and post implementation performance.
- Collaboratively work with matrix & vendor partners to ensure alignment with Ally's strategic imperatives.
- Understand nuances of the underwriting business in order to identify opportinities for future strategic imperatives.
- Cultivate team talent in line with Ally's culture.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations Research, Statistics, Economics or a similar discipline with quantitative focus, master's degree preferred.
- Significant experience (5+ years) and knowledge of consumer financing industry (e.g. auto, card, mortgage etc.)
- 4+ years of experience in a similar role focused on strategic analytics/data/statistical analysis.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of data mining and classification techniques, ideally, 2+ years experience using SAS/Snowflake/SQL or similar tools for data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present proposals and vision to executive leadership.
- Experience working with (and ability to influence) matrix partners that impact change capability, such as IT, Compliance, Legal, Vendor Management and Operations.
- Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; should be a critical thinker with strong attention to details.
- Knowledge of statistics and quantitative models is a plus.
- Experience in automotive underwriting industry preferred.

Emerging: 110000
Experienced: 145000
Expert: 180000
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
