Position Summary
The Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts & Humanities (CISAH) at Michigan State University seeks to fill three one-year, fixed-term teaching positions with the possibility of renewal at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. CISAH faculty are responsible for designing and delivering innovative courses in MSU’s Integrative Arts and Humanities (IAH) curriculum, which is required of all undergraduate students and aims to demonstrate the essential role that the arts and humanities play in the lives of all students, regardless of major.
These positions will be academic year (nine month) positions beginning August 16, 2024, teaching three 4-credit general education courses per semester in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.
Duties:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate general education courses on contemporary topics in the arts and humanities offered by the Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts & Humanities. We are especially interested in teaching expertise in:
- Areas that enhance global learning in IAH, including Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Islands, Middle East/West Asia/North Africa
- Specializations focused on the arts, culture, or history of minoritized communities in the US, including ethnic and religious communities, LGBTQ+ communities, disability communities
- Interdisciplinary intersections of the arts and humanities with fields such as technology, health, the environment, or other topics that bridge a wide variety of disciplines

Minimum Requirements
- MA in a humanities, arts, or related field
- Two years of experience in college-level teaching in the arts or humanities
- Masters degree for Instructor rank; PhD for Ast Prof rank
Desired Qualifications
- MFA or PhD in a humanities, arts, or related field
- Online and/or hybrid course design and teaching experience
